I use them after an introductory lesson on a new topic and that helps me gauge who will need more help during guided and independent practice. They also align with our writing rubrics, so the kids really understand what each number means when I grade their papers. We call this exit strategy. What do yo call it and are your posters available? I would love to have something visible for my students and as a reminder to me to ask my students this question after teaching a lesson. Also, do you use them after every lesson taught or do you let them try it on their own first? I have heard different stratagies and would love to hear yours.
